About Theiaorganics

Somewhere in most Indian kitchens there is a jar of something good for you. It was bought with real intention. It was opened four or five times. And then it was quietly pushed to the back of the shelf, behind the atta and the tea, where it will sit until someone throws it out.

That jar is the reason Theia Organics exists.

Because the problem was never belief. Nobody in India needs to be told that turmeric is worth having, or that ashwagandha has three thousand years of practice behind it, or that eating your greens is a good idea. We have known all of it for generations. Our grandmothers did not need a clinical trial to make haldi doodh.

The problem is that most of us do not finish the jar.

A wellness product that sits unopened has helped nobody. Consistency is the whole thing — and consistency is a flavour problem long before it is a formulation one.

We think the industry has this backwards. Most wellness brands begin with an active ingredient, work out the largest amount they can legally put in a jar, and then treat taste as damage control — something to apologise for rather than solve. Hold your nose, they say. It is supposed to taste like that. It is medicine, not dessert.

So people hold their nose for a week, and then they stop. And the jar goes to the back of the shelf.

We build the other way round. Every blend we make starts with a question that has nothing to do with chemistry: would you actually want this, at nine in the evening, on a Tuesday, for forty evenings in a row? If the answer is no, the formulation is wrong, however impressive the label looks.

That question turns out to be surprisingly demanding. It is why our cocoa is Dutch-processed rather than natural, because it is rounder and far less astringent. It is why there is coconut fat in the ashwagandha blend, because bitterness needs fat to hide in and cocoa powder has almost none left. It is why there is a small amount of salt in there, which blocks bitterness in a way that sugar simply cannot. It is why we roast the seeds in the moringa blend before we grind them, and why we grind them fine enough that nothing settles at the bottom of your glass.

None of that is glamorous. It is the unglamorous part that decides whether you open the jar again tomorrow.

What we will not do

Making something taste good is easy if you are willing to cheat. We are not.
There is no maltodextrin in our jars, no starch bulking, no artificial colour, no synthetic flavouring, no anti-caking agent. When we sweeten, we use khandsari — unrefined, minimally processed cane sugar — and we use as little of it as the blend can carry. We would rather solve bitterness with fat and salt and better cocoa than bury it under sugar.
And the actives are real amounts, not a decorative pinch added so a word can appear on the front of the pack. Two grams of ashwagandha root in every cup. Thirty-six per cent seeds in the moringa blend. Turmeric with the black pepper that makes it worth taking. If an ingredient is named on our label, it is in there in an amount you would notice.
We also do not tell you what our products will do for you. There is a great deal of noise in this category, and a lot of it is promises that nobody can keep. We would rather tell you exactly what is in the jar, exactly how much, and leave the rest to you and your doctor.
The name
In Greek myth, Theia was the titan of sight and shining light — the mother of the sun, the moon and the dawn. She is not a goddess anyone prayed to for miracles. She is the one the daily rhythm belonged to: morning, evening, and morning again.
That felt right. Our products are not treatments. They are small things you do at roughly the same time every day, in the same cup, until you stop noticing you are doing them. The wheel in our mark is a sun, with leaves where the light should be.
